None of it EVER HAPPENED. You said you know the movie was fake... ok. The events in the movie were NOT re-creations of REAL events. See Below quotes and links.
"The legend of the Blair Witch was invented by the film's writer/directors, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez. Myrick and Sánchez hired three young actors (Heather Donahue, Michael Williams, and Joshua Leonard), explained the outline of the film's story to them, gave them advice about the characters they were to play, then turned them loose in the woods with film equipment to shoot movie footage. Is the Blair Witch Based on a true story - are the events behind it real? Are the legends really legends or are they made up?
From a teeny tiny one-liner of a story about a woman who may or may not have been accused of being a witch in the 1700's around Burkittsville, Maryland (formerly known as Blair) some movie makers EXPANDED ON and CREATED the legend of the Blair Witch, the men who died and the 7 children etc....

All I did was use Google to search "blair witch truth"
Hope that helps.

100% fake.
they were clever, and pulled this thing and took it seriously, so people would believe them. they were one of the first groups to do this, and it worked. people believed.
No that seven children kidnapping was not real either. Neither is the men dying or whatever. None of it is real, not even the legend historically
it's based off a fictitious book that recounts the legend (which is fake)

Every story has a myth, and those woods, just as all woods, have lore that scares the native culture ... but, alas, it is a fabrication. Even the second part, with the news footage of the area and the tourists, still a fabrication. Just good Hollywood and lore, if you can call it that.

,No, it completely fabricated, they made it so people would have the illusion of reality, though.
