Depends on the item.
If it is video game or music or movie cd then no.
Toys, games, clothes all should be able to be taken back with no problem, but...
It never hurts to ask though.
Take your receipt and the item and maybe they could give you store credit if they refuse to refund your money.
If you won't be playing or using the item you originaly bought- at least you could get something different.

If it is in a new condition, you would probably get store credit/exchange for it. (I'm not certain of the Toys R Us policy though).

Yes you should be able to I have done it before and it worked more then once but make sure to take the receipt or they will not.

Most stores will not allow you to bring things back if they have been opened because they cannot return it to their stock and re-sell it.
