What is the difference besides the prices??

there is no difference. an ipod is an mp3 player. but nowadays, an ipod is also a movie player, a tv show player, and a music video player.

An Ipod is a type of mp3 player...it just is the most popular type of mp3 player.

an ipod is an mp3 player. sort of. I don't think it actually supports the mp3 format, instead it supports AAC, protected AAC, AIFF and other stuff from the itunes store. iPod has recently become a universal name when refering to music players, however.
