What are you referring to when you say "story" ? If the "story" is that it will hit the Earth, then NO the "story" is not true. If the "story" is that it will comes close, then yes. It will miss the Earth by 18,600 miles. It should be obvious that if this was going to hit Earth ( as big as it is ), it would be all we would be talking about right now.

It's true. However, it's no longer a threat. The possibility was of Asteroid Apophis missing the earth on the said date, coming so close the orbit changed so it would hit the earth on Friday, April 13, 2036. The chance was 1 in 5,560 and ranked 1 on the Torino Scale.
NOW, there is NO LONGER ANY CHANCE of Asteroid Apophis hitting the Earth, and is now ranked 0. (Nasa December 2006)
The newest NEO to be ranked 1 is asteroid 2006 XG1 which has like a 1 in 40,000 chance or something of hitting the earth in 2041. About the same size as Apophis.
