Because people have turned away from God and have turned to being selfish and fighting for their own "rights" at any cost.

Ahhhh, the age old question. I think you will find on that if you focus on the negative, you may feel we are slipping backwards in societal merits, however every generation thinks that of the next. You will find even all the way back to the beginning of history, each generation thinks they inherit the short end of the stick from the previous and society is in a slow spin down the drain. If you think more generally about how we live today compared to even 10 years ago, I think you will find things are not as bad as people present them.

Add to that, that many of your conceived notions of a better time were in childhood when you knew less of what you know now, and thus could not look at the present as a child with the same discrening view point you have now as an adult.

The most you can do as an individual is raise your children to be better than you and prey the rest of society does the same.

Our school systems have been teaching for years what to think and fail to teach how to think. "If you feel good about it, then it is ok" Life is full of positives and negatives. When you leave out the negative so that everyone feels good then life after school will be good or else it will be made to be good. Some children who are raised by parents with Family Values and a Christial attitude do have respect for others. Some children who are smarter than others, learn better at an earlier age. Children who are raised and taught that they are richer and better than the lesser fortunate kids are not going to show any respect. So it goes back to the School System and Parents! You are the way you are raised!

Hello,

I know some may disagree with me on this but it's in the bible so who so ever wish to look it up do so.

But hun it's in the bible that as time grows closer for example the seasons... in the winter it will be like summer in summer it will feel and seem like winter. Brother will be against brother and so forth.
Dear this is just the begining of the end and for those making crazy comments about "duh.. it's the people" Duh maybe people should find something else to do besides get on the internet and be with family and friends"

I've got a news flash for those nothing is going to stop this.. and sooner or later man will destroy this world that we call home.
It's not your thinking hun it's something that is prophecy of the big guy upstairs.

People are crazy, no morals, no consideration and don't care killings, wars, all sorts of tragic things. What can we do? Pray hun pray! It's out of our hands and we can only place it in Gods hands to take care of.

Nothing can stop these wars, people acting crazy, people killing etc but GOD! And one day he is going to as they say ...
DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT!!

So hun pray it will all be over soon and we want have to worry about all this stuff anymore no more killings , no more war just peace and love!!

Concurred that people are good. Healthcare is better than it ever has, free press exposes more creating disincentive to "cheat" a system somehow, and morals are a personal definition.

How do you think a conservative woman in the middle east views the Western world? Our women wear tight jeans and low cut shirts; this woman wears a veil to cover all of her besides her eyes. How must she feel about our women's morals? Like I said, it is a personal definition. Raise your children in a way that you think they should act, and all will be fine.

Cheers!

These problems are so immense, that we can only make our corner of the world a better place. When I moved back to my home after an absence of 9 years, no one on the block said hello, welcome back, or a kind word. It hurt, but I continued to do nice things for them...take in their paper while they were gone, help with a neighbor who had a stroke, etc. Six months later, all eight of them have been to my door at Christmas with oranges from thier tree, or a baked loaf of banana bread, and so on. And all I did was love with no guarantee of returns. My corner of the world has changed, by my not getting angry, revenge, or hurting others.
If we read in history books enough, we will see that times have always seemed bad to that generation. I remember my mother thinking my siblings and I were spoiling our kids. Today, I wonder how my grandchildren got so spoiled. :)
Yes, today people are killing other in the name of God, worse than in the history books, in my way of thinking; but maybe, I'm just able to focus on it more. Whatever the reason, I can only heal my area of living...treating my children with love and loving my husband unconditionally, through all of his warts and irritating qualities. And never using the words: kill, divorce, hate, racist remarks, and not judging someone I don't even know.
The Indian expression "walk in their shoes first" seems to apply; if I hate my neighbor, I'm starting a problem on my block. If I judge that person by his skin color, I'm starting a hate campaign within my own soul. Let the change begin, but let it begin in me.
Success, and God bless you for wanting things to be different. One step at a time, one smile at a time, we can make a difference. Not that the media will notice, but your immediate circle will.

It only seems that the world is changing for the worst. Why?
Because the media is able to report on the worst in a split second.
Focus on your corner of the world to make it the best it can be.

Because you haven't sent me 29.95 for my new book "HOW TO BE HAPPY AGAIN": Along with this, you will receive a free sample of thunderbird and illustraed instructions from Larry "The Whistling" Bum on how you too can find happiness in this world once again. Don't delay, the further you procastinate on getting drunk and living behind 7-11... the longer it will be, before you can find that sense of well being you have always wanted in life.

Actually it is getting better in some ways but the same in others.

There has been bad always but today with our rampant media it is publised much more and in more detail than in previous generations. This gives the impression of getting worse.

Cheer up and dont add any negative thoughts to the world bank.

Also if you live in the US get out fast.

Some days it does. But today my wife left her pocketbook in a PapaGinos and when we went back someone handed it in with all the money and credit cards in it. Don't worry too much there is still a lot of good in the world, it is just never reported on the news.

It's called "Liberalism", which is a socialist, communist dogma that suggests that individual wants are more important than societal success.

Morality? ARE YOU MAD?!?!? Morality has RULES and STANDARDS and EXPECTATIONS!

Don't you know that those things are strictly prohibited by the culture that demands that everyone has the rewards, no one has accountability (unless they're wealthy), no one has to work, and being spanked by your dad when you're four is a legitimate excuse to shooting thirty-nine people in a Christmas Parade?
