some gangs aren't always bad. i live in arizona and in my area bloods rule the street but none of us are ever talking bout "of lets go to the other side and kill a crip". gangs dont care about colors, race, or age. im 11. rap music, the streets, and the ghetto is my life. the only reason kids become gangsters are because we have problems in are lives but then people judge us saying that oh u little ghetto kid. me and my friends are all involved in the gang but were not completly gangsters we might be ghetto but were not gangsters. the older gangsters on the streets won't give the kids under eighteen guns and if they find us with one we cant be in the gang activaty for a month. they dont give us any weapons. if they catch us doing drugs we will be put on a kind of probation for a month with them. we are disclipined and u rich north people think we are all bad. we go to school we go to collage. we have jobs we have kide, parents, and siblings. why does yah think ghetto people and gangs..

From a sociological persective, gangs fulfill an important function in your neighborhood. They provide companionship amongst your peers, they teach you how to survive the sh***y neighborhood, they provide security that is not available in richer areas, and they take on many of the roles of parents. However, the negatives far outweigh the advantages.
First, gang life is a gateway to a life filled with crimes and violence. This is evidenced by your own statement about the guns; I assume you'll be getting one as you age. Second, gangs value far different things that families do. For example, in a gang I assume you are not taught how to handle a difficult situation in an adult, non-violent manner. They don't make you go to church. It's apparent that your schooling is inadequate. The work ethic is non-existent in gang life. Drugs are readily available and a "timeout" from the gang is hardly an appropriate way to handle it. Sex relations are cheapened as are women. And if getting in is difficult, getting out can cost your life.
I am not a rich woman and had to raise my son by myself. High schools in the south are filled with gangs, but yay! my son is mixed (1/2 white, 1/2 Mexican) so no group wanted him but none of the groups gave him much grief either. There are many paths in life with different destinations. The easiest path is to follow the crowd, quash your dreams, give up your personal goals, surrender your integrity, place the gang above family and church and school, and accept the limitations you have embraced. I earnestly hope (and will pray) you figure out what You want and then go out and get it...

The reason everyone think gangs are bad because we hear it on the news all the time about gang related drive-by shooting, vandalism, murders, fights etc. I have never heard of a nonviolent gang that works an honest job without stealing their belongings or selling drugs so you can buy things. As far as having children that should be banned because of all the violence and drugs they are around and of course the filth. Get out of the gang before you are killed or your child is killed and live a descent life. To me it sounds like you are a pretty descent person. Do better for your child.

When you got rap music talking about beating down your HO and dealing drugs and killing the opposing gang, what do you expect. If you have problems, find the solution to fix it. Clean up your neighborhoods. Graffitti just looks like trash and I'm tired of seeing it on the buildings I work in. Turn the damn stereo down. I'm sitting in traffic with a headache and I just want to go home. I don't want to have to listen to some idiot gang thumping their stupid stereo.
