From a technological standpoint, Mac OS X is far superior to Windows. First, it is not built upon legacy code the way Windows is. If you look at what Microsoft has to do to make 10 year-old applications run on their current and next generation versions of Windows, you'll be amazed. The truth is that Windows has gotten too big of a code-base because they want to keep compatibility with older software. Because of this, they can't just start over and write a nice, clean, fast operating system.

Apples dont' have that problem because Apple completely re-wrote their system starting with Mac OS X - the current version. Thus, it's very clean code-wise and very reliable, not to mention being based on Unix - a very proven and trust-worthy environment.

Anyway, down to the good stuff:
1) All Macs can now run Windows
2) Macs are good for creative professionals and they're also good for anyone looking for a great computer experience. They run Microsoft Office and give you a lot out of the box for a computer.
3) Mac hardware is designed by designers who take their time to make the most out of their hardware. That's why the design is unrivaled in the Windows PC world.
4) Yes, Macs don't have viruses and you don't need to install any spyware/anti-virus software on your Mac simply because the code is that much more secure.
5) Windows PCs have much more software available. I guess here is where one needs to choose between having 10 options of software that does the same thing but is not programmed very well or having 1-2 options of software that does the same thing, but very well (as is the case on Macs).
6) You can upgrade Macs but they aren't as customizable as PCs are. You can upgrade the most important stuff like RAM, hard drive, and sometimes video card. If you care to upgrade your processor on a PC, it sometimes can be just like bying a brand-new computer since chances are you might have to get a new motherboard and memory (RAM) to go along with that new processor.

In a few years, it won't really matter what kind of OS you have. The only thing that will matter is that you have access to the Internet - since we are moving to having our most-used applications on the web (like word processing, spreadsheets, email, etc.).

The choice is surely yours, but with the ability to run Windows on a Mac in case you need it - why not try it?

P.S. usability is purely subjective since all it takes is for someone to explain how to use a piece of software and it becomes second-nature there after. Personally, the Mac is easier to use for me - especially when I have many windows open because of such features as Expose and the Hide function.

Check one out for yourself at an Apple Store. That's what got me hooked.

Also, I have a Mac iBook - one they don't make anymore - but I leave it on for like 36 days straight without restarting. There aren't any slow-downs at all, interestingly. All I do is close the lid of my Mac notebook and it goes to sleep. I open it back up and I'm ready for work. Now that Macs have Intel processors in them, it really makes for great power savings and performance combinations.

Good luck.

depends on what you wanna do with your computer. if your doing creative editing like vidios and graphics then a mac is the way to go.but lets face it they (apple ) hold less customers then the avg computer owner and most software is made for the windows os system. unless you wanna alwasy search for the compatiple with apple note, a computer is just a computer neither will be better then the other for net surfing and normal activities and gaming. apple is just tring to hype up to actully get someone to notice thier product. a commercial dosnt ever tell ya that they are just another in the market, they alwasy try to claim they are better. take it from flava flav "dont beleive the hype"

Apple's current operating system is built upon a FreeBSD kernel of UNIX, one of the most stable, basically virus free and hacker resistant, very fast, can be left on for months without the need to reboot, Apples excel at graphics, video, music, and game production, they possess excellent CPU time management, and resource management, but it all comes down to usage, yes, apples are "harder" to upgrade due to access to parts, yes, they are more expensive, but so are Mercedes-Benz's and BMW's in the auto industry. So whether they are better or not is subjective, and depends on usage.

It depends on what you want to do with your computer. PC's are easier to upgrade and have more programs compatible with them. Also a better gaming computer. My brother owns an apple and he records music with it and that's why he bought it. They are better with art and music and stuff. I don't really like how they work though. Windows or Mac's OS is what it comes down to. If you want to alter programs and do your own stuff and programing I'd look into Linux.

for those into music and editing video, etc. the Mac is far superior than the PC. Besides that I find the Mac inferior for many reasons.
