He abused his wives and girlfriends. One of his wives passed away during plastic surgery. Some think that it was to correct some problems she had after a beating from him. He has never received any punishment for his behavior. I say he is a loser.

James Brown was an A-1 original. They broke the mold when they made him. He was a true blue professional and one incredible entertainer who knew exactly how to put on a "show". I was just listening to an interview with him conducted a few years back and he was talking about the "build" of a show...how to build the anticipation and excitement of a show and then have the know how and talent to back it up. He ran a tight ship...was tough on his musicians...he created music that was tight and deceptively simple. He kicked some serious musical tail while on planet Earth. A few years ago, there was this cat out there Terence Trent Darby and he had one or two hits...when I finally saw him on TV dancing around...he was just a cookie cutter wanna be of James Brown...and I got to thinkin' about the old saying..."Imitation is the best form of flattery". Cheers to James Brown...rest in peace (yeah right his feet are still dancin').

My mom is that generation and so I have heard a lot of James Brown. His stuff is really good and has a nice flow. At least he's off to a better place.

He was a legend I know that. Wasn't sinister or cruel, had some good ups and bad downs, but he was cool. God rest his soul. I know my parents loved his music, and they were shocked. Time goes by and so do people. It's life, but his was remarkable.

The Godfather of Soul was and will always be his title.

He will be missed, he set many records and helped to establish the groundwork for many artists.

He threw his wife out a second story window, and has beaten his girlfriends for many years. Any man that does that shouldn't be walking the streets, no matter how talented they are. But that's just my opinion.

Sounds like he was a disgusting human being. No fan here. Not prejudiced, just not a fan at all. Chuck Berry, now THERE is an entertainer...
