They are closing due to the fact that they are in debt. CLosing date would depend on who buys them and what the plans are for the property. Another company could step up and purchase it and keep it as an amusement park. Hear say is that they won't close in 2007.

Magic Mountain is not closing, Six Flags made a press release saying they would not sell to a company who would tear down the park.

Its not closing. Just dropping the Six Flags name, which might not be a bad thing. But its not happening right now. I think the park is still going into a 2007 season.

The why part is that Six Flags has run their company into the ground. They overextended themselves by buying a lot of tiny parks across the world, but they all failed. That and they can't even run their premier theme parks. The company is ditching many of their parks to avoid any more financial difficulties.
