Clearly all the people saying not to give Benadryl at all are just going on gut reaction. It is OK to give your dog benadryl for allergic reactions. My own vet has recommended it to me in the past. You have to take a look on the box and pick the correct dosage based on whether your dog, if it were a human, would have a weight considered "adult" or "child'. A 27 lb. dog definately would get a child's dosage, but not an infant dosage. Dont' freak out. Give the puppy the Benadryl in the amount and frequency recomended for young children that is written on the box.

I'm on prescribed medication for this pregnancy and I was told baby does not get the same amount of the drug that you do--I don't think it knocked your baby out. It's a great sign that she was kicking strong today. Baby should be just fine, especially since Benadryl is considered safe to take during pregnancy--good luck!!

I took Benadryl when I was pregnant with my first child. Then with my second they told me that I should not take Benadryl. Check with your doctor. There are some medications that cross that placental barrier and your baby is affected and some meds that do not cross. I would check with your doctor and check every time because there are always scenarios cropping up that are connected to medications when pregnant or breast feeding even after it is deemed "safe".

Yes it would knock your baby out:
NEONATAL SIDE EFFECTS: Potential for severe sedation if administered to the mother before delivery [8].

However that may not cause problems. It is considered a category B, meaning it is unlikely to cause harm. I wouldn't take it regularly though.

I'm sure everything is fine...especially if she's moving alot today, but everything in moderation. I wouldn't take it again for a while.
Take care!
