In many countries the first female leader is a conservative, rather than a liberal. (See Margaret Thatcher in England for example.) Some see this as being due to the fact that having a woman as a leader is a bit of a leap for some voters, and a conservative woman is less of a leap than a liberal woman.
The first woman to run will get a certian "novelty vote" from people who will vote for her just because she is the first woman to run. How big this vote would be I do not know.
I do know that if Hillary Clinton were a guy, with similar positions, similar TV appeal, and similar experience he would not stand a chance of winning an election, much less the nomination.

A large gap in the party lines. RIght now even though the winds are blowing in the Dems favor it's too tight to risk it. When or If they separate by a comfortable margin. Then they can put a woman up. Honestly I don't see that happening in my lifetime.

As soon as there is a woman on a ticket that people feel they can vote for reasons other than the novelty that there is a woman on the ticket.

Remember the saying that a woman has to be twice as smart & work twice as hard as a man to get the same pay?.....well, that goes for any executive job as well, especially the highest office in the land. I do think Hillary is that woman.

I guess there's nothing wrong with it so long as the woman qualifies and knows what she is actually doing, then why not? if men can do why women can't? women are great leaders and great followers, too. you can only be a great leader if you were once a great follower...women did that way......

Lots of money and her probably doing the right men to get the right backing. I know this sound chauvinist, but Washington is extremely corrupt.....they have the best politicians money can buy.
