I want a FAST computer for digital photo and video editing. What are the differences in AMD, Pentium Duo, etc. etc. etc? There are SO many choices, I don't know which one is best. I'm looking for highest compatability and don't want to spend more than I need to, however, I don't mind spending 2500 dollars. Help me choose!

Okay quick comment to the last guy, yes Intels are the fastest, hence they are the fastest for gaming. Fastest is fastest no matter what you are doing.

The Intel Core 2 Duos are the fastest out right now. If you have a fairly decent budget, I would recommend going for the Core 2 Extreme quad core model, it should really help for the tasks you are planning to do, but any Core 2 Duo will be good.

Intel Core 2 Duo is the fastest processor, but if you are making/buying a gaming computer, buy an expensive AMD Dual Core instead. AMD processors are better for gaming.

The higher the GHz the better. Usually the price is a good indicator of how powerful it is. Pentium is the best brand. Get the most expensive Pentium you can afford.

With your requirements, I recommend Pentium D (Powered by Intel dual-core technology) with the Windows XP Media Center. I am currently using it and I can't get my hands off my desktop. (Caveat) You'll probably touch your mouse more than your spouse!

Full 64-bit computing with quad Xeon processors, and it can run more software than any other personal computer:

XP, Vista, OS X, Linux. No problems. Ok, if you run Windows, you'll have problems, but that's not because of the computer! ;)
