My 9 wk old son rubs his eyes with his hands all the time and also rubs his face. He does it so much that it makes his eyes and face red.He always takes his hands to his face.

I have tried putting mittens but still he does that. Any idea why he does that? Is he having any problem? What can I do to stop it?

Thanks for your responses.

My son rubs his eyes and face when he is tired. It's one of the ways I know when to put him down for a nap - whether he likes it or not! He sometimes rubs really had and it makes his face/eyes/nose red or he can scratch himself with his nails.

If your little guy isn't tired, maybe he's uncomfortable in another way. If you don't think it's just tirednedd, it can't hurt to ask the pediatrician just to make sure that it isn't a rash or something.

he's just a little baby, he probably did that when he was in your tummy, its comforting. check out baby.com, that website is cool.
