The best way, is to not use an actual soap bar, but bath gel, of some kind. The bath soap runs down the walls, and it makes it harder. The other idea I have, is to use Shower Clean, after every shower, or another similar brand. It really works wonderfully, after you clean off some initial scum.

Cleant your shower thoroughly. If you want to and have the time, wax the shower walls with a coating of Turtle Wax (time consuming, but really does the job. Then install a Scrubbing Bubbles Shower cleaner. Use it once a day after the last shower of the day has been taken. I used to have a lot of problems with mold and mildew in my shower but since I've been using the shower cleaner - problem solved. AND I only have to clean the shower about once a month. In between times I just wipe it down once a week. It stays clean and no soap scum buildup whatsoever. A reill bottle lasts about 6 weeks. The only problem - it used AA batteries and right now mine are dead and I keep forgetting to buy more.

I've been using various brands of after shower spray after each shower for years and it has kept it free of soap scum, mildew and leaves the tiles looking like new. This stuff is really cheap, about a dollar at Big Lots and a spray bottle lasts a very long time.

Stacey C has the answer. When your shower has been thoroughly cleaned, keep a squeege in the bottom of the shower, or close by, and after you shower simply wipe the water down the sides. It works very well and only takes two minutes of your time. It is well worth it.

If you have buildup now, spend the time to really really clean it well with Tilex and elbow grease. Then, apply a coat of Rain-X, which is basically an automotive product for your car's windshield. Everything basically sheets off. Apply it twice a yr.
Also, keep a squeegee in the shower, and if the mood hits you, wipe down the shower. It will make help make the Rain-X effectiveness last longer.

Every time you shower and if you have a shower held wand. Shower off your walls and after you dry yourself off with your towel then take the towel and wipe your shower walls down. That way you kill two birds with one stone!

I agree don't use bar soap - it always leaves a film. Liquid show gels work best to prevent that soap scum build up.

You can use lemon oil after you clean it thoroughly. It will coat the surface and prevent soap from sticking. You can buy lemon oil or use furniture polish. It does wear off quickly but makes cleaning easier.
