what is the mucus thing look like before you go into labor? and can it be a little bit a time or does it all come out at the same time?

Mucus show looks like uncooked egg white and can have streaks of blood in it - this is normal. If however you pass a lot of blood or it is a green colour/smelly contact your maternity unit as this is not normal. The amount of mucus varies from person to person - dont worry you will recognise it when you see it.

You may pass your mucus plug — the small amount of thickened mucus that's sealed your cervical canal during the last nine months — if your cervix begins to dilate as you get close to labor.
When you lose your mucus plug, it may be a little or a lot of gel like material. It will may be in a glob, stringy or just wetness. The mucus plug is clear to yellow-brownish in color, but may also be pinkish.
The plug may come out all at once in a lump, or as increased vaginal discharge over the course of several days.
The mucus may be tinged with blood (which may be brown, pink, or red), which is why it's referred to as "bloody show."

Most women never see their mucus plug, but if you do see it, I've been told it looks like a big booger w/ little red streaks in it. No kidding, that's how the nurse in my childbirth class explained it!
I've heard that it can come out in small pieces, but rebuilds itself until you're ready to go into labor, and that's when the whole deal falls out.

When my mucus plug came out it resembled a small jelly fish. It was about one-two inches in diameter, kinda clear looking with brown, yellow and pink bits in it. For me, it came out all in one go. Also, my waters broke before the plug came out with both pregnancies. But that doesn't happen to everyone.

It looks like a big bloody snot wad and mine came out all at once both times right before I went into the delivery room.

depends everyone is different you will know it hen you see it mine came slowly the last bit came when i started in labour a think pink goe yukky it means your body is getting ready to go into labour

kinda like something you might hack out of your throat if you were sick! really phlegmy- looking. clear or of a white color. sorry so graphic. but don't be freaked out by it . My personal experience was all at once .

A slimy blob. Gross, but true.
Some lose it all at once, others lose it a little at a time.
