Why is being ill a punishment in this society? Someone is ill from the time when they are a child. Because of this illness, the parents work themselves to death trying to pay for health care. But no matter how much they work it is never enough, because the child is constantly ill and going through expensive medical treatments and surgeries. The child grows up and is still very ill. Now that he is an adult, he is in so much debt, yet because of illness he will probably never be able to work. He tried to apply for social security but got turned down. He recieved the denial letter while he was hospitalized for another surgery. He couldn't complete his high school education because of illness. He is in so much debt because of medcial bills, the bill collectors call all the time. He's too ill to work, too ill to go to school, and probably too ill to ever support himself, and his health continues to decline. Why does he continue to be punished like this?

It's not a punishment. It's life. Somethimes bad things happen.

It's nice when other people voluntarilly help others out. The problem with expecting government help is that it is not voluntary: it's funded by money taken by force (taxes) from other people. If the government would get out of the charity business (giving money to those who know how to work the system best) and lower taxes, then people would have more money to give to real charities and decide for themselves who to help.

If Canada can afford free health care the US should find a way to do it all so. I've known other people in similar situations. Tell the family not to give up on Social Security or SSI. They usually turn a person down, some time quite a few times, before accepting them. Get a lawyer, even pro-bono. They should be able to find someone willing to help.

no longer the legal professionals. The Crown Prosecution provider is the genuine offender. they permit costs to be decreased for a 'accountable' plea. Eg: my son became stabbed 12 circumstances final September. In severe shelter over a week & then 6 weeks in a severe dependency unit. he hasn't been in a position to artwork because. the guy who stabbed him became initially charged with GBH with intent. He pleaded accountable to the lesser fee of unlawful wounding and have been given a 2 12 months suspended sentence. No justice for the traditional human beings in the united kingdom.

because greedy insurance cos continue to lobby in congress to prevent a universal health-care plan from coming into effect. it's a shame really when u think about how other countries such as canada & england have free health-care while we, the so-called world-leader, continue to bleed the poor & infirm by forcing them to pay for expensive hospital-care & what-not w/ their life-savings--if they even have any

I live in Canada, we get free health care. I have MS and if I had to pay for all my medical treatments we would be in the poor house. I can't imagine what that would be like but I sure feel for Americans who have sick kids and can't afford to pay for it.
