If I had an old car that had either (A) no engine and transmission, or (B) an older engine and transmission, and I wanted to replace it with a new engine from the manufacturer, (ex: if I had an old Chevy, and I wanted to put a new Chevrolet engine and transmission in it,) and if I took it to a dealership that sells Chevrolet's, would it be possible to get them to install a new engine and transmission, as well as all the other necessary things for it to function properly? And, approximately what would that cost me?

BTW, I was only using Chevrolet as an example because that was the first thing that popped in my head. I could use the same example for a Chrysler, Cadillac, Ford or Volkswagen.

Or, assuming that it wouldn't be economically feasible to put a newer engine in an older car, where could I get a factory rebuilt engine and transmission, and how much would that cost?

And, if I installed a factory rebuilt engine and transmission, would it be as reliable as a new engine?

a whole bunch of money, at summitracing.com you can purchase a 350 chevy for 1600 and a trans for 700 add500 for a carb, intake and your in business also you would need an exhaust about 400.00. a dealership would charge 5 to 6k for this

Depends. Are you saying you have an old 1970 car and you want to put in a factory rebuilt engine and trans? If GM still sells them yes they could install them. I would say it would cost about $7,000 or so.

If you are asking can you put an engine out of a 2005 into an old 70 car no the dealer would not do that. That would need modifications that they dealer would not want to get involved with. Newer cars run of computers and the parts and labor to install all that in an older car would be cost prohibitive. My guess is it would cost you upwards of $15,000.

Shure thy will put it in for you . Say 3000 for the engine and say 2000 for the trans and labor well lets say 6000 should cover it.
Call the local Chevy and check.
