well to make bamba happy, it is a Linksys USB adaptor. I dont see how that helps with telling me why there is no internet connection considering i have already set up the device, but anyways...

I have gone through the whole set up with the CD-rom and the last step is for me to connect to the internet which i said was my problem...It says once this happens a congratulations screen should come up and i will be good to go...It says that it reaches the access port but that no internet can be found

Do you have a subscription to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). In order to use the wireless card for your laptop you must have an Internet Service Provider or you can go to a wireless hotspot (cafe, coffee shops, etc). If you have an ISP, do you have dialup or broadband?

Most routers need to be configured via a hardwire network connection before they will work wirelessly - I know, sounds lame...

You can also bring the notebook to the store it was purchased at, along with the router, and ask them to set it up for you.

Regardless - the 'wireless internet thing' should have come with an installation disk that should walk you through the setup.

Try that first... then consider the other options.

An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

Call your ISP. Perhaps they have a service where they can come out and set it up/fix it for you. You might have to pay a fee for them to come out to your house though. (Or try BestBuy's Geek Squad.)
