I'm sure you will be entitled to compensation for loss of your gas supply. Sorry to say I do not know how you go about this. If you are the only person in your street without gas then Brit Gas may say the lack of supply has something to do with the pipe under your land leading from the mains. On the other hand, if other people in your street are also without gas you'll need to go and speak to them about it and form yourselves into a tight knit group - a committee, and get after Brit Gas right now, with a lawyer. Good luck.

Sam Laidlaw is the CEO of Centrica Plc, a British company who own British Gas. However, you wouldn't be able to contact him by phone. You could write to him, but that would take a while to get a response, particularly considering we are in the holiday period.

Your best bet to resolve the complaint is to contact Energywatch on 08459 06 07 08. They are the consumer watchdog for the energy industry and can help resolve problems and complaints.

Good luck getting your gas back on!

These companies have to much power.
even when you try to complain you are passed from one to the other and given false names and even cut off, you get through again and that person is in a different office, then for the 99th time you explain again and get a promise of a return call that never happens, and on, and on, and on, and on, their complaints procedure is even more long winded, after exhausting all direct methods in writing and receiving no replies they deny receiving your correspondence, the ombudsman procedure will take you to next Christmas and the gas was switched back on when they have effected their modifications and repairs and not before. There attitude Just who do you think you are? not just another stupid customer?
The water companies
Gas
Electric etc
All of these big companies are guilty of fobbing the customer off and treating them like they are a nuisance.

Transco are the gas company that are overall in charge of British gas. British gas is just a supplier. A man/woman comes round to check your meter..etc which is a part of what suppliers do.#

Its Transco's responsibilty to maintain your gas supply, any faults.etc

I had precisely a similar subject different than for the certainty i could waited 12 months in the previous soliciting for the meter to get replaced for a quarterly one.I had 12 months of card meter utilization which ought to have given british gas a good theory of what i exploit yet they needed a deposit. i went straight away to powergen who sent me a card for a similar meter and reported as quickly as i receive it then ring them to ask for the meter to get replaced which they did straight away away.thats all you like: straight away forward good previous formed provider and lots extra value-effective than british gas!
