My family has two computers linked together using a wired linksys router. My familys computer is the main computer and mine is using the internet by the router. My computer also has the music that I want on the other computer. Im guessing that I need to create a workgroup and then put the files in the shared folder but I do not know how to create a workgroup. I have tried but keep getting an error. My cd-writer is broken so I cannot use that and when I tried sending the files through email+yousendit I got the message:
"Windows media player cannot play the files. If the file is on another computer, verify you are connected to the network. If you typed a path, verify it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be available"

Most of the songs were off limewire or ripped from CDs if that matters. Please Help.

Quick note: if you're hooked up using a router then there is no 'main' machine, both machines are slaved to the router for networking and internet access.

Anyway, this should really just be as simple as sharing the folder with the tunes on it, then accessing the shared folder from the other machine. Instructions on how to share a folder in XP are here:

Put the folder of the folder to be shared in the Shared folder.

Enable the Shared folder to be visible on the network.

Both computers must have the same WORKGROUP. You can set it in MY COMPUTER then right-click then select PROPERTIES and go to COMPUTER NAME TAB. You must also enable FILE SHARING in your LOCAL AREA CONNECTION settings (MY NETWORK PLACES PROPERTIES) then share your C drive (right click then select sharing).
