What are some strategies to win at the game risk?

Steve is right although if you get enough of North America right from the start, wipe out the others in North America and go south. From there work over to Africa and then Europe. Asia is hard to control so I usually go for it last. I learned this strategy 20 years ago and it works. Oh and if you see someone who is weak, go for them and get their cards and add armies instantly. This will fuel your advance, and keep your opponents scared.

It's all about holding the Americas. Start with South America. Move from there into North America. You then can control your empire with just three access points. You can then move into Iceland, Africa and Kamchatka to deny your opponents bonuses. Easy strategy that almost always works.

I always try to get North America, The Middle East and the Ukraine.Build up the Ukraine and Middle East very quickly from these spots it's easy to take over other countries.

i always find australia to be the best to hold down and protect, then work your way out from there
