Im getting a macbook pro should i get a refurbished pro with the core-duo or a new one with the core 2 duo?

I would like to save money if i can. Also whats the difference between a dvd, cdr burner thats 4X, 6x 0r 8x? which is best? Or does it really matter?

The Macbook Pro is a pretty good computer. The core 2 duo is the current latest product and likely a tad faster. In most cases, you won't notice the difference. The difference in burners is one of speed. The 8X is faster than a 4X. If you don't plan on burning a bunch of DVD or CDs, it might not matter.

If that refurb computer is hundreds of dollars cheaper, you might find that attractive. I have the core-duo and can't think of a reason to consider the newer version right now.
