It was cute and VERY well done. The original footage would have been used as a commercial because Gunsmoke was sponsored by various cigarette brands.
Lady Bird Johnson was HUGE Gunsmoke fan. When she discovered that actor James Arness was a Republican she was extremely disappointed. So, she made up her mind that Marshall Dillon was a Democrat and continued to enjoy the programme.
