you are right in that they are hiding somewheres else until the last spray job dissipates, then they return!! apartments are bad because if they other tenants don't do their share then the roaches come back to your place from theirs!! B U T ,,, YOU CAN do something for yourself and help them as well...if you can get them to do this to.....
Look around for the product called "Roach Pruf" !!! it is a lite blue powder.... at hardware stores, gardening centers, true value stores, etc,,, even some grocery stores here carries it!!!
Follow the firections on the can,, it will take two or three weeks for it to really start working but when it does you will notice a big reduction and soon ,,NO ZERO NONE etc roaches....
the powder clings to their legs so take take it home,, where the other roaches come in contact with it!! it kills the roach, babies, eggs, and al the others that touch it..
I put this in my house 18 years ago and have never seen a roach since,,,ask your landlord to put this in other apartments and the attic and basements,,,

My apartment used to be infested. I ended up putting large-size brand name (Raid or Combat or Black Flag) roach motels in each room. Also, I bug bombed the place, I took whatever they recommended and added 2 for each floor. Last, I keep the place as clean as humanly possible. Empty your trash daily, don't ever leave food out, and clean clean clean.
You can't totally eliminate roaches in an apt. complex b/c some people are just gross, but if your place is clean, they'll go to where life is easier.

You can try a product called Demon WP. It is water soluable & can be used with a small pressure sprayer & is very effective. Spray around all baseboards, cracks, crevices, windows & doors. I use it about every 18-24 months & think it works wonders. It can be ordered on-line & is long-lasting.

one of the best solutions is to make sure your house is always clean n dont spare the roaches once u spot them, eliminate them immediately,i mean kill them, that reduces their population in one way or the other.

Boric acid, it is very effective when used properly for killing cockroaches and most other insects. You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them. More information at http://tinyurl.com/ofxkk
