Freedom in this country is being able to disagree without fear of persecution. As a veteran, all I can do is not agree with them. I know it is my sacrifice that gives them the freedom to hate me for what I do. Its all these freedoms that make it easy for me to defend and die for the American Flag the red, white, and the blue. This is why I get a choked up when hearing the United States National Anthem. I am aware of everyones sacrifices before me and with me.
P.S. I was 17 years old when I joined, now I'm 25

If it bleeds, it leads. The mantra of the press. And I'm not really knocking the press, believe it or not. But because there is a free press that is NOT sponsored by the government, they can report any negative story (well, within reason, not exposing national security etc) about the government. And I'll reiterate, that's is a good thing, to be able to expose the government. But the other side of the coin is that most of the news you get is negative. But where there is no free press, you only get the government's story they want.
Also it seen as noble to be self hating by some people. I, in no way, want to support, justify, or rationalize the policies that are contrary to the principles of the ideas of America, but I'm not quick to jump on the bash American society and culture bandwagon, solely to feel self important. We have some problems, but for the most part, America is a force for good. Capitalism and democracy, at least our versions, are better for the world than any other economic or political system ever.
The ironic thing is that most people that blindly bash America are coming from a sense of morality that is the basis for America ideas.

Because America is at war. A war that has divided this country in such a way you could compare it to Vietnam. The people of this country don't know what they support, or whom...most of us lead self-indulged lives who are as aware of Syria and Saudi Arabia as the woman with the baby in her arms they didn't bother to hold the door open for. The fact is chaos breeds chaos...and war is something that no one likes regardless of if they feel it is necessary or not. This battle has been going on a long time, and gas prices have been high for a long time. Things like that are taking a toll economically on America's poor, lower, and middle class people. In short, it has caused a lot of tension in our country which has resulted in a lot of impotent complaining and lashing of our country.

US, is the strongest country in the world, and so it easily comes under attack. It is the best country in the world, and what proves it, is that so many of the so called bashers, are dying to get into this country!! This is true! Actions speak louder than words, and there are a lot of whiners the world over. Standing up for what is right, even when it is hard, is another reason so many people talk crap about our country. We do the right thing, or try to, as we can. It takes a lot of flack, but oh well! I am thankful to be here, and don't care to move to any of the countries bashing America.

OK this is easy to answer when you think about the abuse of power that America exercises across that world. Look at Iraq!! Saddam was termed as a dictator and accused of killing thousands of Iraqis in the name of futhering his regime. Bush and Blair have killed thousands of Iraqis in the name of democracy!! Both sides are killers, however, only one is brought to justice. Democracy is when the people have a say. Governments don't service people they bow to corporate empires. Look at the contracts that, e.g., Haliburton were given when the infrastructure of Iraq was blown to bits. Where did the cash come from?? Iraqi oil! Ordinary Americans are as good or bad as anyone else in the world. The American gov't is a machine that does not benefit ordinary people, but sustains growth among those who 'have'. This is why people bash America.

It is the Bush-bashing that gets me the most. I would like some to examine the unfolding of events that have occured throughout this particular cabinets tenure in office thus far (in ALL aspects of governance), and then place different people within these ultimate seats of power OUR government has at their disposal, and tell me how much more vocal the remaining voices, if any, to be heard, would be. I have no comments on freedom at this time.

Jealousy.
Ironically most of the people bashing us come from countries the US has been loyal to.
Europeans no longer run the world, and generations of select royal family breeding is rendered useless and surpassed by some random American fat corporate man in a suit.
We say “jump”, their leaders say “how high”, or simply sit there with a dumb look on their faces while dreaming of the days the US was a nice little submissive colony.
I think Americans should worry more about domestic matters instead of the emotional rambling of our two-faced friends across the sea.

It is easy to bash the USA since we don't riot in the streets when you draw cartoons about God or we don't behead people for disagreeing with us.
The United States has been the most successful enterprise ever invented and there is much to be jealous of that.
Most of the rest of the world has no idea what America is all about.

That is only partially correct. I have lived in India and bashing Indian politicians is not foreign. (They deserve it, anyways.)
Anti-US tendency of people is mainly due to double standards adopted by US, as far back in history as you care to look.
Starting from Columbus, caucasians were illegal immigrants. No doubt about it. But, the same illegals want to kill illegal Mexican (and other national) illegals.
US claims to be a champion of human rights. Except when it comes to Israeli atrocities against Palestine.
Iraq's dictator was not tolerated, but Pakistan's dictator is America's favorite.
No nation can pursue nuclear energy. Except for US and its allies.
No nation can pursue space, if US sees a threat in it. US however can do whatever it wants with its space program.
And so, the list goes.

many other countries are jealous of what the USA has in terms of laws, resources, etc. they are mad that their own country is not more like the USA. those americans that do bash their own country often do it over stupid little things. we do have the right to voice our opinian so i think some people just excersise that right a little too much. plus they know they can do a lot without getting in trouble.
