Collect anything that catches your eye.
A friend of mine collects confetti our local park. I've just started collecting calendar and souvenir tea towels because they look interesting. My mil collects cookbooks printed by different groups/organizations like the junior league.
For some more info on collecting, read old issues from Martha Stewart. I swear, she collects everything (even stuffed fish-dead ones that used to be alive - and rolling pins).

what is something you love? Is there some kind of artwork, or ornaments you can collect that have something to do with that? I love the ocean, and am considering collecting art with shells, or lighthouses, etc. How about something you cherish, like old quilts, tea towels, something made by hand, something of beauty? These things are highly collectible, and becoming a thing of the past. Good luck with it, and enjoy! :)

thimbles, spoons, die cast cars, salt and pepper shakers, figurines, snow globes, stamps, vintage post cards, comic books, match books from various bars or hotels, stuffed animals, coins, '50s japanese tin toys, campaign buttons, hats, baseball/football cards, happy meal toys, watches, clocks, unique coffee cups. or, you could just collect happy memories of your family. at least those can never be stolen from you or lost in a fire!!

beer bottle caps are cool and you can make a collage of them if you drink enough. Just an idea that many college students use
