I am considering getting into the business in order to stay home with my baby (due in March). I'm not looking to become rich or anything, I just want something to supplement my husband's income. I have heard lots of negatives of Multi-level- marketing, though. Any opinions on the subject? Or any other suggestions for working from home?

I am an Area Manager with Arbonne and have been building my business since March in WA. It has been the best decision I have made. It definitely takes commitment and work but if you follow a duplicatable system it is worth it. I recovered my initial investment after my second month it has fulfilled the reason I chose it to be home with my kids. I am very excited about the products and the opportunity and looking forward to soon becoming an RVP.

I took the time to research the company. There are many MLM's that work you to the bone and you get nothing in return. I found with Arbonne that you're success is not dictated by the person above you nor is your income. You are in business for yourself but not by yourself. Based on your individual efforts you can pass your sponsor which I am about to do.

I truly believe that it is a phenomenal way to stay home and to be distributing products that I know are phenomenal are making a difference in people's overal health and sell themselves.

I would, however, recommend staying away from the home party plan and selling at retail. Build your business by stepping over the dollar to reach for the dime by this I mean set yourself up to earn a residual income. Do the work once and get paid continually by setting people up with their own wholesale online account where they can order for themselves at a discount and then you get paid every time.

True MLM marketing is an excellent concept. Mary Kay's business plan is studied at the Harvard school of Business and is copied by MANY other companies. Before I started selling Mary Kay, I looked into Arbonne and Mary Kay. I went with Mary Kay because it had the best discount and commissions and I liked the product best. But, I do know many women that swear by Arbonne and say they are doing well with it. My best advice is to do a lot of research first.

I have only done MK for 6 months and all 6 months have made quite a bit of money. I was really suprised how well it is going for me. I definatley think that doing Arbonne, Mary Kay or whatever can be a great opportunity for you. But, you have to be willing to work. If you want info for your research, email me and I'd be happy to share. The more info you can get, the easier your decision will be.

Also, Andrew is incorrect in his answer.... MK gets a 50% discount and their retail prices are still lower than dept. store brands. Also, commissions can go up to 13%. But, the nice thing is you can make good money and never do any teambuilding if you don't want to.

I have been involved with MLM for many years, and attitudes like Andrews make our job very difficult. You have to really ignore that type of thinking because they post so called "facts" that are as far from facts as you can get.

I would love to show you how to make extra money each month right from home marketing a product in the health and wellness industry that is doing incredible things for people's health. It is only one product and is safe for pregnant women as well as babies and tastes delicious. If you know of anyone with health issues, this is the business for you. You get all the tax breaks involved with any other business. This product is not available in regular stores so people are going to be repeat customers.
Email me if you would like to learn more about how to market this product and start earning an incredible income.

One of the first things I would recommend that you do is start thinking about your interests/passions... and go into an internet business that is based on that. Why? Because it makes the work a lot easier.

Answering the following questions should help you develop ideas:

1) what websites do you visit when you're just surfing online?
2) do you have pets?
3) do you play and sports?
4) do you collect anythings?
5) do you have any specialized education?

See what I mean....

After that, you've got to decide the business model that you want to use - do you want to develop you own product or do you want to be an affiliate marketer (market other peoples products)?

Then you've got to learn basic skills such as building and uploading websites, setting up autoresponders, setting up a merchant account to take orders, etc.

And then, probably the most important part... you have got to learn how to market you business.

If your interested in starting up your own internet business, then I would like to recommend the following great resource:

http://www.affiliatemarketinglessons.com/internet_business_startup.html

This program shows you, step-by-step, how to create a sucessful online busines. But, what is unique about this, is that the creator of the program also provides you with a special hotline, so that you have one-on-one assistance at anytime.

If your interested in affiliate marketing (marketing other people's products/services) then you'll want grab a copy of this book - http://www.affiliatemarketinglessons.com/superaffiliate.html

If your interested in joining an existing internet business, then I would recommend SFI Marketing Group (http://affiliatemarketinglessons.com/SFI.html). I would recommend that you join this opportunity either way because 1) its Free and 2) you'll learn a lot through their training.

Anyways, I hope this helps... and I wish you much success.

Please do not get involved in MLM, you make pennys while the guy above makes much more.

Usually it involves selling a product that could be bought for X at a conventional wholesaler its retail price should be two or three times X, however you are offered only 10-25% of the retail value (instead of 50%+ POS you should make)

I would personally favour EBay. If you want to work from home. Many wholesalers and retailers know the potential of EBay but dont have the time to pursue it as it takes a lot of time at the beginning, taking photos, writing descriptions. So if you approached a local wholesaler or a retailer who may let you photo their stock and supply you at good price.

This is basically what we did, used other peoples stock to prove viability then eventually bought our own - we did £500k ($1m) last year on Ebay.

Anyway good luck with your baby

I am with a company that I guess most consider MLM. We are actually in the business of informaing people of our service and if people get it great, if not we move on. As a parent, this service would be of some interest to you and others who you may know who are parents. I would love to send you my link, so you can check it out, and answer any questions you may have if this company interests you. One suggestion, make sure you find a company you really believe in. That is where you will have success. Oh, and if you start before the baby is born, growing your organization, then taking off to have the baby will still bring in some money!

I have looked at several MLMs. The first and most important thing when considering a MLM is attitude. You can't go in with a negative attitude. If you do, you'll fail. Find one that deals with something that interests you. My MLM of choice is Primerica Financial Services. Read "Your First Year In Network Marketing" by Mark Yarnell. This will give you some insights. If you email me, I'll find someone near you that can explain Primerica. krg0400@yahoo.com
