Cut the tree down as close to the ground as you want. Drill a couple of holes in the trunk and pour some creosote into the holes. This will kill the tree without damaging any grass or plants in the vicinity and after a few months you will be able to just pull the trunk and roots straight out of the ground.

Hi Kaiser As far as I know creosote has been banned since 2003. There are several chemicals available at garden centers that will hasten the rotting of tree stumps. This basically involves drilling a series of holes in the stump and adding the chemicals. While this method definitely does speed up decomposition time, don't expect it to be lightning-fast. The stump will still take a prolonged period of time to break down. One product which is good is called Root-out. All the best.

Conifers like that won't grow back anyway so you don't need any herbicide. Just cut the stump as low to the ground as possible. It can also help to either score holes in the top of the stump with a chainsaw or drill a load of holes in it to help water sit on top. That will increase the speed that it rots down.
Of course if you have the money you could hire a stump grinder and get rid of it that way.

All you have to do is cut the trees down to ground level and leave the stump in the ground, as Lelandi are conifers once you cut away all the green the stump will not recover or grow back, no poison is necessary to remove stumps as they will not regenerate. If however the trees are to big for you to remove I suggest you find an Arborist ( tree surgeon ) to remove them for you.

I think the idea is to saw the Leylandii down to stump level and within an hour or so you have to paint the stumps with glysophate to kill them. You will need to specify the strength of the toxic chemical. The dead roots will then rot (in theory).
Commerical users in UK of this chemical are trained operatives with special precautions to prolonged exposure to this chemical agent. This means you have to be careful to get a strong enough chemical to do the job.

Yes you can poison the roots. Go to a good garden centre and they should have what you need.

Spray them with Glyphosate. It will take them a year to give the visible signs of death, but after the foliage has turned brown you can chain-saw them down. A stump-rotter chemical will complete the process.

well if you cut them down and leave the trunk in just cover the top with creosote so it will suck it down into the roots
