Most people simply are unable to answer the more intelligent questions, for one. That seems to be the problem with the questions I ask. They don't require a smart-*** answer or an opinion. They need facts. And not facts about celebrities or sports stars, etc...
That means two things,
1- they're not able to answer the questions so,
2- they don't read those catagories of questions.
People generally are not interested in things where they can't show off so they don't go there.

It depend on the question, and the time that you post it. Sometime when u post it at 4:00 PM & 5:00 PM, there r a lot of pplz online at time & plus if you post a question that every1 know the answer of, or dumb question like "i am pregnant?" No1 gonna answer that ****-
PS: dont worry after you pick a best answer, you gonna have 3 points back. LoL

The answer is the popularity of the user and the interest of the topic amongst the users. Yahoo only displays 4 out of the thousands of questions at one time. So it depends on the diversity of your question and if people are willing to sit at their computers answering questions for hours.

Some questions push a hot button. For instance, there are a lot of Bush haters that see red when they see his name and get their typing fingers tapping. Or you may ask a question about someplace in Iceland that nobody has heard of and will get only 1 or 2 responses.

There seem to be three factors involved:
Popularity of the topic: General equals more answers, while narrow topics require specialized (fewer) answers.
Emotionality: Those questions which display high emotions usually get fewer and/ or bizarre responses.
Depth of thought: Usually questions that require less thought have more answers.

It has to do with what the subject matter is. Some things get lots of answers, particularly those that pertain to sex, religion, and politics, the obvious big three. LOL

'Cuz people answer what they're interested in and know the answer to! It helps if it makes sense and you put the question where the question is supposed to go...I'm not gonna look at a question that says "Help?" That doesn't tell me what they need help with!!!

some questions more people know the answer to while others nobody knows the answer, or nobody feels like answering (if it's a private question or something like that)

Some questions are very difficult or impossible to answer. Others are opinion questions (which most people don't answer unless they are really bored).
Write an intriguing question, and you'll get plenty o' answers.
