You just do NOT put magnets near a computer, especially the hard drive.
Take a digital shot of it and save it to your desktop as a screensaver. That way, it will come up whenever your comp goes into rest mode.

As long as its not too close to your monitor! As far as the other answers go, the case will shunt the magnetic field enough for a magnet that weak! The hard drive in your PC is also protected witha shunt! It takes a big magnet to mess up a hard drive!

No, magnets do not react well with hard drives. The rule of thumb is when you are going to throw a computer away is to run a magnet across the harddrive to destroy it. Unless you want to rebuild your computer I wouldnt do it

one of those little support the troops magnets are not strong enuff to go thru the case & hurt your hard drive.....it would take a much stronger magnet

I suggest not to because the magnetic field could mess with your wire circulation throughout your computer and screw it up alot. Plus, data wouldnt save correctly. It happened to my dads friend, he had to buy a new computer.

Put it on the opposite side of your HD on your case. If you don't know, don't worry about it. I put a magnet on my brother's HD b/c he smashed my PS2 and it's still there, nothing has happened...been over a year...and I even opened his case and put it directly on the HD's "shell".

No.
Magnets don't get along well with computers, especially hard drives.

If you want all your data erased, put a magnet on it. Otherwise, NO!!!!
