Go see your Gynecologist.

my mom thought she was pregnant when she started menopause, and I remember she had to track her periods on a little chart to show her gyne.

Only thing that scares me now is how YOUNG she was when she started and how OLD I am and I haven't even had kids yet! That's why she thought she was pregnant, she was only 40 when it started.

Its normal. My Mom and Aunt both went through it. If it makes you feel better, use condoms too. As you probably know, you can get pregnant wile going through menopause, so be extra careful on taking the pill. If it makes you feel better, test once a month 7 days after the missed period. I know its messing with you, but you should be ok. Just double up on the protection right now. You might want to check with your Doctor about getting an IUD. They are supposed to be more effective than the pill and can last for years. Just try to not let the missed periods bother you too much. Your body is trying to stop doing periods altogether, so you should expect to start missing.
