I'm thinking of finishing my degree online. Is it worth it? Should I go back to school? I would, but it's really hard for me to do. An online degree would be great, but just how valid is it?

Unfortunately, there are too many bogus 'diploma mills' out there that give the industry a bad name.
I don't care if you come from Harvard, South Dakota Tech, or Bubba's Online College of Piano Repair, you will have to prove yourself competent and qualified in interviews and testing before I approve your hire.
Sadly, too many people only look at the resume and the name of the school, not the quality of the person they're reviewing. I have someone working on my team who is from Harvard, and he's just barely competent, and I have another who went to a community college and did not graduate, but is one of our top performers.

I work in HR and usually online degrees are frowned upon. We are skeptical about online degrees because there are so many scams and "diploma mills" out there. We also have reservations about online degrees because even the legit schools have only been around as long as the internet has existed. In comparison, most normal colleges were established a long time before the internet and you can verify what type of education they provide. There is usually no way for employers to determine the quality of education received at an online school.

There are some legitimate online schools out there such as the University of Phoenix, but you really need to do your research to make sure they are legit.

If at all possible, I would definitely recommend finishing your education at a normal college. You will get less moans and groans when you go on interviews and the employer asks you where you went to college.

An online degree requires more work than attending classes.

I know that the University of Phoenix is really tough, even though it is online.

I give full respect to many online schools.

it is valid! my mom did it...look at your community college and see if they have online courses. the only flaw is you might not have all the choices you want...but it is more convenient for adults with jobs and or kids
