Troy's answer is hilarious!
The NBA should have pulled a NHL move with Jordan. When the Great One retired, the NHL bypassed the 5 year waiting list and immediately let Gretzsky into the Hall of Fame. The NBA should have done the same for Jordan.

Whoever said he wasn't really that good should be slapped. Right now. But yea, you have to wait a certain amount of time after you retire to be inducted, I mean Barry Sanders was just recently inducted into the NFL HOF and he's been retired for a while. So just give it a while, Jordan will in there. Trust.

The requirement is to be retired for five years before he can be considered for induction. Had Jordan stayed retired after the 97-98 season he would have been inducted.

yes he did, and then he came back. he's only been out of the game for 4 years. get your facts right before you ask a question. the minimum wait is 5 years before you are eligible for induction, which is why karl malone isn't in yet either.
