I know that the site is still live as I have checked it on another computer. It used to work fine and I really do need to use this site. Urgent replies would be appreciated.

Check your firewall software.

Maybe you accidentally selected it to block.
Also worth clearing out any old internet files or tracking cookies by using anti-spyware.

Go to "tools" on the internet explorer top bar and then "Reset Web Settings" and see if that helps.
