I myself prefer this alternative formula for converting Fahrenheit
measure to Centigrade measure.

C = (F + 40) * (5 /9) - 40

It's easier to remember because then I don't have to remember the different freezing points of the Fahrenheit and Centigrade scales.

To reverse it,
F = ( C + 40) * (9/5) - 40

To convert from one scale to the other,
add 40, multiple by either 5/9 or 9/5 according to which direction
you are going, then subtract 40.

If you want to do it in your head, I think this formula is easier than working with fractions:

F = (1.8 x C) + 32
