ok, yeah, like that's the problem. Whatever u want to keep on your iPod has to stay in your library. If not, tah-tah to whatever u have the next time u update.

The song get deleted from the iPod because you delete from iTunes. Everytime you connect the iPod, it will syncronize with your library, so all the songs that are unchecked or gone from your iTunes will also be gone from the iPod.

But, if you wanna delete the songs from iTunes and not delete them from your iPod there is a way to do it. But you have to set the iPod to update manually, which means that you'll have to drag the songs from your iTunes library to the iPod. In order to do so, connect the iPod. In iTunes will appear a summary of your iPod. At the bottom of that page, you'll see a few boxes. Uncheck the one that says 'Only transfer check items' and then check the one that says 'Manually manage music and videos'. That'll do it.

Now you can connec the iPod and it won't syncronize, but you'll have to drag the songs into it through iTunes. You can delete the songs just by selecting and pressing delete on your keyboard. And you can delete all the songs you want from iTunes since they won't get deleted from the iPod.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Yes, if you have your Ipod and iTunes set to automatically update your Ipod, then all of the songs on your Ipod but not on you iTunes will be deleted off the Ipod and replaced by the songs in iTunes. To change this, go to you iTunes' preferences, then change Ipod preferences to manually manage songs, and after, when you get new songs, you can simply drag and drop them to your Ipod when it is connected.

About your old songs that were deleted, you may get them back by going to File on iTunes, then Import, and if you look in your iTunes music files they should be there unless you chose to permanently delete them. If you did, then theres no way ti get them back.

I believe.

Everytime you plug in your iPod it re-updates your Library so that you have the songs yopu want on there, so if you delete them when you go to update your iPod those songs wont be there to put on so DON'T DELETE YOUR SONGS! If you don't want some of the songs on there click the box next to the song and uncheck it.

do not , DO NOT delete songs out of the library.

that is the area that holds all the music intended for your ipod. just keep adding songs.

only delete if you don't want that song on your ipod anymore.

hope that solves the issue. i wasnt to sure what you were saying.

itunes autommatically synchs everything from itunes to your ipod everytime you plug it in. When you delete songs they get deleted from your ipod when you hook it up to your computer.
