1971 - The legendary 'Swoosh' symbol, a Nike trademark, was designed by a graphic artist student at Portland State University in June of this year her name is Carolyn Davidson and it was created for a cost of $35. She did, however, later receive Nike stock and a golden 'swoosh' ring.
In August, Jeff Johnson suggests the name "Nike" for the first shoes that will bear the Swoosh mark.
