I'd rather walk around with a nail in my boot.

Well I try to be concise as possible, but as questions vary greatly in the nature it is only relevant to answer the question in a manner suitable to the asker.

Paragraphs are pertinent to any question as it shows the asker you have a concern for the nature of the question and illustrates you have taken time to deliberate your answer.

Verbosity in answers relates mainly to your mood at the time, you dont want to waste the askers time by making elaborate over explanatory answers to simple and brief questions, yet you feel you do not want to sell short on the validity of the poser.

So to surmise I am wasting your time and anyone elses time who reads this as I type an excessive prose on the premise that I may get 10 points for an amusing and overly long answer.

Hi, warning.
No, I tend to keep the answers short and simple.
When the answers are long winded and go on and on giving arguments for every point that you make in the question, with references and cross references to support all possible arguments and permutations, you can guarantee that nobody will read the answer to the end, which is very disappointing when the answere (or answeree) has gone to the time and touble to make a lucid, cogent argument with an aim at resolving the conundrum in question.
So that's why I always keep it simple, and stick to the basic principles and avoid excessive jargon and cleverness if I can possibly help it,and it avoids my fingers getting fatigued or possible damage to the keyboard.
Just a couple of lines will do it for me every time.
Happy new year,

I'll answer any question, long or short, which I feel merits an answer or any which is so stupid or idiotic as to be more of an offer of points than an actual question
Some just don't deserve an answer though do they?

it all depends on what type of question he or she is asking and whether i know a bit about the subject. if i do and it involves me having to give a long answer, then i give it to them. if its in something like philosophy, then that's alright by me because some of them warrant long, detailed answers that make sense and which deserves intelligent answers

Avoid long answers. Long ones read like a monologue, and are time consuming. Pithy, punchy answers take more thought, and are more inspiring. They demonstrate brevity.

Avoid them - by the time you've got to the end of it, you've forgotten the whole point of the original question & have to go back.

Depends on if the question catches my interest. If I have an answer, I may read on, but if I dont, I go on to something else.
