My bf and I are practising celibacy due to religious reasons. but I note that he gets excited at the slightest things. The other day he was sitting on the sofa watching TV and I put my head in his lap to have a rest and within minutes he went hard.
We started our celibacy just 3 weeks ago - how long will it take before he calms down

Yes, we use to have a very active and vigorous sex life, but I decided that we should renew our spiritual lives by following a new path.

I'm afraid that if he is a sexual person by nature, there's not going to come a time when he calms down. Now he may learn to deal with his feelings of excitement a little better in the future, but don't be too surprised if suddenly you find yourself becoming excited at the littlest of things. Also, try not to do things to excite him by going near his genitals or undressing in front of him or anything of that nature. If the urge for sex between you two become so strong I would suggest marriage over fornication.

If you guys were sleeping together before of course he's still going to think about sex even after you guys decide to become celibate.
It's about the mind...if he hasn't changed his frame of mind and his thought patterns to the point where he understands the reason behind being celibate then nothing you do will change that.
Apart from throwing him into a cold shower :)
Besides you need to be accountable, you shouldn't be alone with him (in a room) if you are giving up sex...it'll only tempt you into the old patterns try public places where you can still be alone like movies, coffee shop etc.
Good luck girl it's one of the best choices.

Wow..i feel for your man. That's..really unfair. Did you discuss this decision with him or decide to spring it up on him on the last minute? Poor guy...what are you doing to him!!
Of course he is going to get hard with every little thing, a man who is addicted to sex, knows it feels good, and wants it will do anything to have it. He will not be able to calm down, in fact, it'll only get worse.
If you discuss with him and help him understand..your chances are higher that he will respect it and want to do it too. He will then do his best not to get hard. However, if your alone in the game...then...i do wish you luck.
You two have a relationship, your not in charge, you don't call the shots. You need to discuss things before you make decisions involving you both. Now...your man is left unsatisfied. A man so use to pleasure and sex. He may respect you now, how long has his life been sexually active? Over 10? It's going to be too hard for him to just suddenly quit...he may end up cheating on you...not because he doesn't care for you...but because he thinks he has to have sex. I wish you luck...and hope you decide to talk to him.

I can't see any valid reason, religious or otherwise, why you and your boyfriend should be practising celibacy, unless he is a Roman Catholic priest of course, which I am guessing he isn't! Who's idea was that? Not his, I bet. He will calm down as soon as you start having sex again.

That depends on his personal habbits. If he is not handeling himself and you use to do things regularly, then He will always be that easily excited.
