you're probably thinking of Auld Lang Syne. it's a traditional Scottish folk song, and has been covered by hundreds of artists for new years events.
and there are lyrics to this song, in mixed gaelic and english.
the lyrics are:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.
And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

First off, the person who wrote the song is named Robert Burns and the name of the song is "Auld Lang Syne." It means either "the times gone past" or "old long since." Mr. Burns wrote this song way back in 1788.

The only song I can think of is "Proud to be an American". I don't remember who sings it, but it goes somewhat like this:
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who
and gave that back to me.
And I proudly stand up
next to you
and defend her still today.
Coz there ain't no doubt.
I love this land!
God bless the USA!
That's all I know.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
And days of auld lang syne, my dear,
And days of auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
