very light - a trick I learned is to pack those things that i don't really like -ladies know what I mean its nice but doesn't fit right so we never wear it. Or things that are getting just too old and worn, then i wear 'em and throw 'em away. That way there's room for souvenirs and no laundry to do when I get home!

I'm a light packer now but I didn't use to be. I learned over time that I never used/wore a lot of things I took with me, so why bother packing and lugging around all that stuff in the first place? I also learned how to plan my wardrobe better (i.e., pack tops and bottoms that can be mixed and matched, instead of, say, a top that matches only one pair of bottoms), and I also learned that doing a "laundry run" in the local laundromat is a great place to get dining and sight-seeing tips --- plus places to avoid --- from the folks who would know best.
Being a light packer also allows you to rent the smallest car available and not have to worry about the trunk being large enough to hold all your luggage. Smaller rental car = better gas mileage and cheaper rental rate, saving you money ;)

I seriously over pack. I have a 3 year old and I am expecting so I pack for every possible situation. I only started doing this when I started having children. Before I was a minimalist.
