A lot of older films are let down by the endings. The studios often exercised an iron grip over the endings of films, so that they weren't too downbeat.

Hitchcock's Suspicion (1941, starring Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine), for example, could have been an absolute masterpiece, but the lame, tacked-on studio ending makes a mockery of the whole build-up.

Same with the British film The Fallen Idol (1948) - brilliantly suspenseful, and then a real cop-out of an ending.

That movie that came out in 2005 about the couple who got stranded out in the middle of the ocean... the ending seriously sucked more than any movie I have ever seen. I would watch it again just to laugh at how stupid it is.

Oh, and Titanic had a fantastic ending, but I was disappointed because it made me cry... lol...

When we went to see the movie Return........I was scared to death, but got excited to see how it ended throughout the movie. Then at the end I was like, "that's it"!!! I was so mad!!! Endings to movies these days stink anyway. Almost everytime I watch a new movie, the ending is so disappointing!!!

I put a lot of time into watching the Kevin Costner film, "Message in a Bottle." That ending was horrible and turned me off Kevin for a long time. I still get angry when I think about it.

I can't quite remember what it was called, something along the lines of "Matchpoint" I think. It had Scarlet Johansen in it I'm pretty sure. Anyways, the ending was completly stupid.
