No. I can hold my breath for 2-3 minutes (I just did 2:12, and I'm a smoker), and it has to do with the amount of Oxygen saturation in your blood stream. If you take long deep breaths before holding, and release whatever CO2 is in you lungs when you're struggling toward the end of your threshold, you can last quite a long time. I also keep my cheeks full of oxygenated air for a final puff. I'm not sure of the benefits of the "hamster technique", that's just something I do cause it seems like it helps.
If you're in pain, you still need oxygen. Breathing is more reflexive. However, if the pain is severe enough, the person may be hyperventilating because of the pain. In that case, you probably would be able to hold your breath longer. I don't believe the ability to hold your breath would be increased relative to the discomfort of pain.

adult adult males can no longer carry there breath longer then us females. some adult adult males can.some won't be ready to. some females can.some females won't be ready to. i in my view know this because of the fact of being a swimmer for 7 years. It relies upon on how good there lungs are and the way lots they prepare there breath keeping. Onestly. Take spriters. They swim in straightforward terms 0.5 the pool and in straightforward terms take a million breath. They swim a one hundred (down and decrease back 2 situations) and take 50 breaths. because of the fact of this they are spriters because of the fact they could in straightforward terms pass so long without air and that they decelerate each and every breath. Distence swimmers. They swim in straightforward terms 0.5 the pool and take no breaths. They swim a one hundred (down and decrease back 2 situations) and Take 10. Hopes this enables! O via the way, i'm a woman which could carry her breath a million-2 minutes Ha lol :P
