Get into lessons. A good teacher is what you need, to show you how to be better. They tell you and show you what you are doing right and wrong. They will help you develop an understanding of music theory. And practice 5 hours a day! You will need discipline! Learn a lot of different styles and never stop playing!

You need to be with other musicians. I play bass, but the more I jam with others the better I get. You need to join a band. Do music you love, not music that is not from your heart.

I agree w/ Mr. Y. A good guitar instructor can teach you everything you need to know. Lessons might run you $15-30, but they will save you untold amounts of frustration trying to teach yourself.
