I have a gas cooktop, black-on-black. It has knobs and grills but the main part is black glass. Here is a picture:

The darn thing is almost impossible to clean. Last time I cooked, it got a little bit of spatter and spill on it - which happens, when you cook - and I had to go over it three times with 409 and twice with Windex to get it clean and shiny again without leaving filmy cleaner residue or streaks. It's a pain to have to do it over and over again, especially around the knob shafts even if the knobs are taken off.

Is there some Advanced New Thrilling Cleaning Product out there that will clean this thing with less effort and time?

I use a citrus spray. I am not sure of the Name of it. But it's Orange of course (smile). and you can find it by the cleaning sprays and it is safe to use in the Kitchen. Love that cause it's safe around food and wont's leave streaks or stains on the glass top. also the citrus in it helps improve the cleaning process.

The glass cook top cleaner in the small squeeze bottle does work quite well, as does a product called Bar Keeper's Friend. That one comes in a powder and you mix a paste and let it set on the stain a minute. Also try scraping the gunk with a razor scraper first. It shouldn't scratch anything since glass is harder than steel, but test in a small inconspicuous place like under the knobs before you go crazy. I've had a glass cook top for over ten years and these methods have kept it looking great.

Dwasifar:

I applaud your effort and my advise which you already tried would have been the Windex as well. However; I do know that for the range that I have that is also black in color there is a known cleaning solution for it and I use it for weekend cleaning only. It works very well. So; why not check with your distributor and or sales person and ask if they also have a specific cleaning solution.

I just seen beez response to your question and it sounded really good. So lets both try it!

There is this stuff that you can buy in the oven cleaning section that will do it. It is formulated for glass cooktops. It's in a white squeeze bottle with a shiny gold label. It is a non-abrasive paste that you rub in with a wet sponge then wipe off. My stovetop had a haze around all of the burners that I thought wouldn't come off until I tried this stuff. I have also recently seen glass top wipes at Kroger...haven't tried them though.

There is a product called Glass Wax, but unfortunately it is no longer made and you would have to find it on an online auction source. It is great stuff and You can even clean your porcelain doll faces with it. when you find it it will probably be a bit pricey, but it is worth Your trouble to search it out.

White vinegar and water. Use newspaper to clean. Mix about half and half.
