Okay, this is one factor in my problem: I recently got off the pill (in the middle of the pack). I'm currently 3 weeks away from starting my normal cycle, and I was told to expect an abnormal period getting off the pill.

Now, my problem is this: I've actually had this happen for a long time, but never questioned it.. before, during, and after my period, I get a jelly-like, thick, and 'squishy', discharge that is dark red. Usually it's a small amount, and I blame it on the fact that I was either aroused or sexually active during my period, and the mucous made just gets mixed with blood. I'm sure that's all it is, because it doesn't hurt, and it's the same consistency as normal, just drenched in blood (and it's so icky). But this morning when I woke up, I felt a LOT of blood just waiting there.. you know that feeling, ladies. So I went to sit on the toilet, and a GIANT glob of this stuff fell down.. it worried me, and I don't know if this is normal for others.. please clarify :(

This is not a blood clot! This is part of the uterine lining sloughing out naturally. I was cursed with terribly heavy and long periods, (ten days) when I first began menstruating. To reassure yourself you should research heavy periods and if possible talk with your mother to see if it is hereditary. You are not dirty or unhealthy because this happens. It doesn't feel particularly nice or anything but don't worry too much about it. Personally, before I tried birth control pills, I would use a tampon and overnight pad while I slept. Be sure to use the lowest absorbency tampon you need though. Despite this though sometimes 'the glob' of lining will slip past the tampon or wind up resting on top of it. Yes, it seems gross but oh well. If you are under 18, talk to your mother and family care provider/doctor, about trying out birth control to lighten your menstrual flow.

I think that is just a glob of clotted blood. I'm not quite sure if it is normal/okay or not. You should probably consult a gynecologist about this since it consistently keeps happening. Btw, how old are you?

You should definitely go to the doctor. Are you sure they aren't blood clots? Just because it doesn't hurt and there are not symptoms doesn't mean anything. Many STD's, not saying you have any, are symptomless. I use to have a constant discharge that was brown from blood and it turned out it was cervcitis, nothing to severe but very inconvenient. It can't hurt to go to the doctor, and try to go on a day that it is occurring. I wish you the best of luck.

Don't worry sweetie, this is just a piece of the mucous layer inside your womb. You period is to remove and refresh that layer, that is there to make it easy for the egg to nestle after conception. So, all it is, is what is supposed to come out.. only it was a lot larger than you are used to thats all.

Ask your Gyn about this. He/she would know.

I went off the pill a couple of times, but both were at the end of the pack, not the middle. I have never experienced this and don't know what this is or if it's normal.

I have the same thing. Its dried or old blood from your uterine lining shedding. Nothing to worry about. But, yeah it does feel gross. Im always scared I ruined my clothes or sheets, but not yet!

There are quite a few people here willing to tell you that what you are experiencing is normal. Maybe it is. But maybe it isn't and you should speak to your gyn doctor. I know what you're talking about: sorta like raw liver spots... yucky, I agree. For me, it wasn't normal. You should really see your doc..

Good luck....

sounds like a bloot clot to me. you might want to talk to a doctor about it. the only time i know clots are normal is after the birth of a baby or during your period. i'm not sure about between periods.
