I remember that with my first, once I felt him move, it never stopped. This one, however, I feel it only a couple of times a day, and that's it.
Has anyone else had this happen? I mean, as it is, this pregnancy is already the polar opposite of my first pregnancy.

What I mean by "a couple of times a day" is just a couple of little bumps or kicks, and that's it.

I bet you are feeling these movements a lot sooner than your last pregnancy. I know with my daughter I didn't feel anything until about 24-25 weeks....and then it never stopped! This one was about 17 weeks, but it's sparatic. It's because baby is still small with room to float and move without "touching" you. I asked the doctor and she said it was fine and completely normal. She gave me the explaination and it sounds right to me! I still feel a little kick here or there, but it's not steady yet. She said wait a few more weeks and they will get more and more steady! Good Luck!!

Well I'll tell u what i remember that with my first son i also felt him at an early stage. I was told by my mother that it would be a boy , the reason she said that was because i felt him @ 3 months believe it or not. I us2 lay down on my back and since i was a thin girl at the time it was much easier for me to feel it. But to me i think u may be having a girl. Girls r very lazy in the womb they don't start to move until there 4 or five months, but boys the start 2 to 3 months. Ask around and u will find out. Well I'm only 12 weeks (3 months) and this Lil one i have only felt 5or 6 times through out the pregnancy. Well best of luck to u have a safe delivery :)

Answer: While an ultrasound can identify fetal movement as early as 7 to 8 weeks of pregnancy, women generally don't begin to feel the baby move until sometime between 16 and 22 weeks or later, particularly if it's the woman's first pregnancy.
The initial sensations you'll notice aren't real kicks, either. Instead, some women describe the feeling as being like popcorn popping or butterflies in the stomach. If you don't feel any activity by 22 weeks, ask your doctor or midwife about it.
After a while, you'll begin to discern a pattern to your baby's movement and you'll know if something's amiss. If he's not moving as often as he usually does, your baby may be in distress. Ask your practitioner when and how to count your baby's kicks.

With my first he didn't move much to start out. Then he was on a schedule-I knew when he would move. I'm 28 weeks with my second and this child never stops-he even moves in his sleep. Everyone keeps telling me it is normal because all pregnancies are different. I wouldn't worry. The further along you get though if the baby doesn't move but a couple times a day I would defiantly have your Dr check it out.

which would be something to stress approximately... My toddler moved the main around 24-26 weeks and has slowed down slightly now at 29 weeks, yet I nevertheless sense him pass usually. Drink something sugary and lay on your area... in case you do no longer sense him shifting for an hour, then you certainly could bypass to the emergency room. It actual can no longer harm for you to shake your abdomen slightly. o_O it's going to easily wake the toddler up, that's different from you could surely shake your abdomen lots that it will reason any harm to the toddler. Your toddler is definitely risk-free. Quote from an internet site. "i do no longer think of you go with for be stricken. the toddler is definitely cushioned interior your uterus and surrounded via amniotic fluid. A energetic shaking of the tummy is probably not greater jarring than a comfortable nudge."

You are still pretty early. Every pregnancy is different. My first seemed to move all the time. My second was as you have explained. By the end of the pregnancy, my second was a real mover and shaker (he still is today). My husband actually feels sorry for me knowing how much my son runs around and kicks when we try to get him to sleep now.

Just keep an eye on the fetal movements. Know how many movements you should have at this gestation(ask your OB) and if you're not reaching the amt of kicks that you should be talk with your doctor. My youngest daughter didn't kick a whole lot like my oldest dd did. I started keeping track of the kicks and told my OB, he ordered an ultrasound and found out she had VERY LOW amiotic fluid. I had weekly ultrasounds until 32 wks. at which pt. had to be admitted and was kept in the antenatal(those who haven't gave birth, or are put on hospital bed rest)side of the hospital until I was 33.3weeks in which I was delivered. So just keep a close watch on it!

Is it possible that you are moving around more (haven't had time to sit because you're busy with your other child) than you did with your last pregnancy? Usually this early in your pregnancy you can only feel the baby move when you are sitting still.
