The best & only safe tan is a sunless tan. The airbrush spray on tans look real and can actually give you the appearance of a better figure (that's if you get someone who knows how to airbrush the toned look). But whatever you do, don't use a tanning bed. You may look good now, but your health & your skin will suffer later. Tanning not only cause deadly skin cancer but it's the cause of 99% of wrinkles. Eventually your skin will get the leathered look with age spots and freckles and uneven blotchy skin tone. You should shave the areas that will be airbrushed real well and moisturized. Put extra moisturizer on the elbows, knees, and heels and use less of the sunless tanner in those areas as well. Use the sunless tanner at least a day in advance before your big night out, if you don't have the level of darkness you like then you can have it done again the day of the big night out. Your fake bake will last longer if you moisturize with the lotions that have the hint of tanner in it. You can also use bronzers to even up or darken any areas that aren't to your liking. No one skin color is the same all over, so try to get it where the sun hits your body naturally. But don't over do it. You shouldn't have to worry about turning orange b/c todays self tanners are much better than the ones from the past & that's not a problem anymore. Good luck and always play it safe. By the way I'm from the good ole' USA and I'm very pale, and I never ever tan, but I do on occasion use a fake bake, I use just one application & sometimes a little bronzer with some shimmer. I'm 39 with flawless, soft, wrinkle free skin, blue eyes. If I were to go into the sun I'd burn within 10 min. But I refuse to tan, get a wrinkle, or skin cancer. Whatever you do always play it safe. Happy New Year.

I use the sun, it works real well. I have been using it for over 20 years and have very few if any wrinkles.
They said they were seeing more cases of rickets because of the lack of Vitamin D. They said that the sun helps the body with production of vitamin D.
People were NOT getting enough of the vitamin D they need from food. So, they have done some more studies and have come to the conclusion that we do need some sun.

So we can get some sun but, like everything else they said in moderation.

just lay in the tanning bed, and if you go to a tanning salon.. they will have tannin lotion u can buy and put on that accelerates the tan, but u have to buy and use it before you get in the tanning bed..
