I had a 96 Accord LX with 167,000 miles and the shocks and struts were still good. To check a strut, put your hands on the fender and push down in a bouncing motion. When you remove your hands the bouncing should stop immediately. If it continues to bounce the struts are bad. Do the rear shocks the same way.

The milage is certainly a big tip off.Ride & handling is another
indicator,leakage,etc.
Have someone get the car in the air & check their operation.Get
a trustworthy shop check them.
Obviously, you live in a state that has no safety inspection reg.s
or bad shocks would have been called to your attention as this IS
a safety issue.
