I understand that one joint contains about five times as much tar as one (commercial) cigarette, so the chances of developing lung cancer from smoking dope as opposed to from smoking cigarettes is therefore that much greater.
However, I have never ever met anyone who smoked marijuana the way people smoke cigarettes!
And I've never met anyone who smoked marijuana and was violent (although there might have been a little pushing over who got the last brownie).
(Crack does NOT come from marijuana so I don't know why that comment is in here!)
I think marijuana should be decriminalized. There are a lot worse drugs out there (including the "legal" ones -- tobacco and alcohol!). People should certainly be allowed to grow their own!

I think marijuana is great, as long as one can become a functioning pot head, not the lazy ones that sit around and do nothing, it is safer than drinking, in so many ways, I wont even get into it, it helps with people who are sick. My aunt is terminally ill with cancer, and she calls me all the time, because it helps with her nausea, and her doctor said that it would not be a bad idea for her to do so, he just did not have the mean to write her a prescription. People who don't smoke pot often view it as being just as bad a heroin, and I believe that is why it is given such a bad rap. I use marijuana frequently, I have a great job, I own my own home, I go to school full time, and I take care of everything that needs to get taken care of. I like to use it at night before I fall asleep. Its not a bad thing, and I do believe that in our life time, we will see some steps at least towards it, they are even thinking about reducing the punishment of possession down to a small fine. Once it is decriminalized I'll be happy!

I completley support the foundation and want marijunia to be legalized....Its safer than alcohol, if you want to copare the two because with alcohol, if you got into a car and drove after drinking booze than its more than likely going to reckless...resulting in an accident...if you drive after smoking a joint than your very likely to be extra cautious on the road....another example is people mixed with alcohol are more likely to become violent or commit another kind of crime because thier drunk...and when someone is stoned...the only thing that they may be guilty of is eating too many sweets when they get the munchies. Marijunia also helps ease the paIn and suffering of some people with cronic illnesses or just pain. All these reasons and many more is why marijunia should become legalized.

Anyone with a fat sak reading this is a friend of mine.
There is no point in having a hectic stressful life when even if you have a smoke once a week, ya just look forward to that downtime. Music, Food, Games, Books, or even just ponder the day... perfectly content for a few hours.

I smoke marijuana on a daily basis and I haven't become 'lazy' or 'stupid' ... I take care of what I need to take care of. I have a job. I recently finished Cosmetology school and I am now a Licensed Cosmetologist. I have goals and ambitions just like all of the people who don't smoke pot. And trust me, I will accomplish all of my goals, smoking joints along the way!

weed, cocain and opium should be decriminalized. keeping these fairly mild libations illegal does not reduce abuse in the u.s. but instead funds terrorist militias in other countries. think of how quick the fark would dry up if farmers could grow coca. hard to fund an paramilitary operation on something which goes to market for $.50 a bushell. heroin, meth, and other pharmanarcotics should remain illegal.

i'm going to lose my one vote for this i know, but the guy with the most votes, "Numb", makes so many stupid statements in so few words they have to be addressed.
first, the "religious" have nothing in particular to do with prohibition. the non-religious and the anti-religious support prohibition for their own reasons, just as many christians and people of other religions oppose prohibition. numb himself cites some loony mysticality in his own beliefs, alleging that weed is some kind of "gift" from a "mother earth". stupid.
second, the "right" also has nothing intrinsicly to do with prohibition. while all libertarians and a huge number of conservatives oppose prohibition, usually with stronger arguments than can be had on the left, you should go test out your local democrat's policy on drugs. ted kennedy is no "legalize it" guy. kennedy's not left enough for you? i understand people get che and marley mixed up a lot, but the former rounded up pot-smokers (and gays) and threw them in prison because he reasoned that the socialist state couldn't afford under-productive citizens.
finally, numb makes some argument to the effect of "people do meth because weed is illegal," which is some double-reverse mix-up of the unscientific "weed is a gateway drug" argument. it would almost make some inverted kind of sense if meth was legal.
people, when incoherant people make incoherant arguments against prohibition, and the larger community of anti-prohibitionists give those incohherant people high marks for their incoherant bs, reasonable people who are on the fence about the issue conclude that we're just a bunch of stupid potheads trying to protect our habit.

The research I did on it for medicinal purposes was astounding. I really think that it should be legalized, but that's just me. There's benefits there as well as the downfalls.

no more harmful to the body than other legal substances (alcohol) as well as toxins we are exposed to on a regular basis (pollution). However, it does make people lazy and worthless.
